Property Tax Exemption

Veterans rated 100% disabled (or Individual Unemployability) by the VA can receive a full exemption from property tax on their residence homestead. Not automatic - apply through your county appraisal district with VA documentation.

Education / Tuition Waiver

The Hazlewood Act provides up to 150 credit hours of tuition exemption at Texas public colleges/universities for Texas-resident veterans with at least 181 days of active duty and an honorable discharge.

Hunting & Fishing License

Resident and nonresident veterans with a 50% or greater VA disability rating, or who have lost the use of a foot or leg, qualify for the free Disabled Veteran "Super Combo" Hunting and All-Water Fishing Package (covers all state endorsements except Reptile/Amphibian; federal Duck Stamp not included). Apply in person at a license retailer with VA disability documentation or a Texas Disabled Veteran driver license/ID.
